How to Choose a Perfect Mattress

There is no doubt that getting a good night's sleep is crucial for our overall health and well being. In fact, it’s just as important as eating healthy and exercising. For years, experts have been emphasizing the importance of sleep and how disruptions to our sleep can impact our daily lives.

Mattresses affect the quality of your sleep, So to get complete and quality sleep you should arrange a quality mattress.

There are many types of mattresses on the market these days, from the popular memory foam mattress to the more traditional coil spring mattress. It can be tough to decide which type of mattress is best for you, especially when you're trying to wade through all of the different brands and models.

So, how do you choose the perfect mattress for you and your family?

There are a few things to consider when shopping for a mattress:

Determine Your Budget

When you are shopping for a mattress, it is important to consider your budget. There is a wide range of prices for mattresses, and you should find one that fits your budget.

Some people believe that you only get what you pay for in regards to mattresses-- but this isn't always the case. Just because a mattress is cheaper, doesn't mean it will be lower quality. There are many affordable mattresses that are just as comfortable as more luxurious and expensive options. So, don't forget to consider your budget when mattress shopping, but also keep in mind that you don't have to break the bank to find a good quality mattress.

Determine Your Sleeper Type

There are three types of sleepers:

  • 1. back sleepers

  • 2. side sleepers

  • 3. stomach sleepers

Each type of sleeper needs a different type of mattress.

Back sleepers need a mattress that is firm so that their spine is aligned correctly.

Side sleepers need a mattress that is soft so that their hips and shoulders are aligned correctly.

Stomach sleepers need a very firm mattress so that their spine is not curved.

Mattress Types

When it comes to finding the right mattress, there are a few things you'll want to keep in mind. There are a variety of firmness levels and material options available on the market, so it's important to find the right combination that works for you. The most popular types of mattresses are memory foam, Hybrid and innerspring

There are three types of mattresses:

Memory Foam mattresses

Memory foam mattresses are made of one type of foam and are the most popular type of mattress.

Memory foam uses your body heat to soften and mold your shape. This provides remarkable support and comfort. Once pressure is removed, memory foam will bounce back very slowly and over time will remember your body shape and optimal sleeping position, hence the name 'memory'.

Spring mattresses

Spring mattresses are the best type of mattresses that use dozens to hundreds of metal springs to provide an underlying support layer. They also have softer plush material layers to increase comfort. Some find that spring mattresses feel more supportive than foam, at least initially. This is particularly true for heavier people, who may benefit more from the coiled spring support systems than a foam base.

Hybrid mattresses

A hybrid mattress is a mattress that has different layers of material, such as memory foam, latex, or gel, as well as an innerspring system. This way, people who use the mattress can enjoy the benefits of both memory foam (or other materials) and a classic spring mattress.

Choose the Right Size Mattress

The size of the mattress is also important to consider. You should choose a mattress that is the right size for your bed. A queen-sized mattress is typically the best size for most people.

These are the UK standard sizes for mattresses:

Small single: 75cm x 190cm

Single: 90cm x 190cm

Small double: 120cm x 190cm

Double: 135cm x 190cm

King size: 150cm x 200cm

Super-king size: 180cm x 200cm

Emperor: 200cm x 202cm

Large emperor: 215cm x 217cm

Consider your weight before buying a mattress

Your weight is an important consideration when purchasing a mattress. If you are overweight, you will need a mattress that can support your weight. If you are not overweight, you may be able to purchase a less expensive mattress.

Even depending on your weight and overall body size, you may find a specific size of mattress that meets your need.

So walk to different weight categories and check which mattress is suitable for you.
